REQUIREMENTS

 

-Grade 10. - Grade 12 added advantage. - Driver’s License Code EC (14) with valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP). - Communication and interpersonal skills. - Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, problem solving skills and attention to detail. - A hard-working self-disciplined person. - Two (02) years relevant driving experience within Local Government Authority.

 

DUTIES

 

-Driving a Skip, tipper truck and compactors loading and off-loading of material of the section to ensure productivity and enhance performance for effective service delivery. - Plan daily tasks and moving from one place to the next according to instruction/works order from the Foreman/Supervisor. - Administrative duties. - Managing the equipment/effective use and maintenance of vehicle used. - Assisting in any other work when there is no work at the driving sub section to ensure effective service delivery. - Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures. Ensure the waste is securely contained and covered to prevent it from escaping or causing hazards during transit. Ensure that the waste is transported only to facilities or places that are legally authorized to accept. such waste. Take all reasonable steps to prevent any spillage of waste or littering from the vehicle during collection and transport. Follow all municipal safety policies and procedures, including always wearing appropriate PPE. -Collect and verify delivery instructions. -Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts. Report defects, incidents, violations, and accidents timeously and compile vehicle condition reports and other records required by Supervisor/Foreman.-Coordinate and liaise with Supervisor and Fleet Coordinator to ensure that minor/major vehicle maintenance are carried out. -Ensure that the truck is kept in good condition (always including washed) and that maintenance work is kept up to date. -Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. - Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time

 

 

SALARY          R 210 060.00 – R 236 256.00 p.a.  (Level 10 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)

Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 356 532.96 p.a.
