REQUIREMENTS

 

-Grade 12. - National Diploma or NQF level 6 Qualification in Water Care, Wastewater treatment & Chemical Engineering. - B-Degree in Water Care, Wastewater treatment and Chemical Engineering will be an added advantage. - Technical Qualification in Water care, Wastewater treatment & Chemical Engineering will be an added advantage. - Registered candidate with ECSA will be an added advantage. - Valid Driver’s License. - Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint). - Excellent communication & interpersonal skills. - Skills & Competencies associated with vocation: analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, presentation skills, conflict & stress management, negotiation skills & attention to detail. - Project & Financial management skills & experience. - Competent in interpretation, implementation & enforcement of relevant legislation & applicable policies. - 03 to 05 years’ relevant experience in Water Care & Wastewater Treatment. - Experience in Local Government/Authority will be an added advantage.

 

DUTIES

 

- Operational Function - Managing all municipal wastewater treatment Works by: - Ensuring that all treatment works are optimised to produce treated effluent that complies with legislations. - Daily optimisation, calculation and recording of chemical dosing and sludge wasted and flows. - Optimise sludge wasting, handling, dewatering and disposal for effective plant operation. - Ensure operational monitoring through sampling and analysis of various process parameters. - Ensure compliance monitoring is compiled to as per the Water Use Licence for the works. - Ensure daily and monthly works reports are compiled, submitted and recorded. - Monitoring and optimization of various unit processes and ensure necessary process changes. - Plant Maintenance and General House Keeping Function: - Ensure that maintenance team attend to breakdowns urgently. - Ensure that preventative maintenance of the plant equipment’s is conducted. - Ensure that maintenance record is in place. - Ensure effective housekeeping of the works and safety of all personnel. - Technical Functions: - Ensure green drop administration, implementation, compliance and reporting. - Industries inspection and trade effluent sampling and ensure industries compliance with municipal industrial effluent by-laws. - Verification and processing of wastewater quality data – Wastewater Treatment Process, Industrial Effluent and Treated Effluent. - General Administration. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management from time to time.

 

SALARY:           R414 336.00 p.a. – R454 764.00 p.a. (Level 05 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)

Total package inclusive of all benefits: R610 689.04 p.a.
