REQUIREMENTS

 

-Grade 10 - A valid Code B driver's licence -A relevant technical qualification in Water Services, Plumbing, Civil Engineering, or a related field will be an added advantage. -Minimum of 2–3 years’ relevant experience in water reticulation, maintenance, plumbing, construction or a related municipal services environment. -Previous experience in leading or coordinating a work team will be an advantage. -Basic knowledge of water reticulation systems, pipelines, valves, water meters and related infrastructure -Knowledge of the use and safe handling of hand tools, machinery and equipment used in water maintenance operations. -Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, contractors and members of the public. -Ability to allocate and coordinate work activities and monitor the progress of assigned tasks. -Must be willing to work outside normal working hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby/emergency duties, where required.- Must be physically fit to perform the inherent requirements of the position

DUTIES

 

-Take responsibility for and maintain control of tools, equipment and materials allocated to the work vehicle and ensure that they are available and in good working condition at designated work sites. -Assist the Special Workman with the implementation of appropriate traffic and road safety measures, including the placement and maintenance of road signs, cones and other safety signage at work sites. -Assist in ensuring the safety of team members, road users and members of the public by maintaining safe working practices and complying with applicable occupational health and safety requirements. -Coordinate and oversee the loading, transportation and off-loading of materials, tools and equipment required for operational activities. -Operate hand tools, machinery and other equipment relevant to water maintenance and related operational activities, -Lead and participate in general labour and operational activities undertaken by the work team, including assisting with water-related maintenance and repairs as required. -Provide day-to-day guidance and support to team members and ensure that assigned tasks are carried out efficiently and in accordance with instructions from the supervisor. -Monitor the proper use, care and safekeeping of municipal tools, equipment and materials and report any damage, loss or defects to the supervisor. -Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and orderly work environment at operational sites. -Perform any other related duties and ad hoc tasks within the scope of the position as instructed by the supervisor.

 

 SALARY       R182 280.00 p.a. – R202 848.00 p.a. (Level 12 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)

                                                            Total package inclusive of all benefits: R327 203.80 p.a.
