REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 12. - National Diploma in Water Care or Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry. - Technical Qualification in Water Care or Chemical Engineering will be an added advantage. - Valid Driver’s License. - Computer Literate (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint). - An honest, hardworking, and self-disciplined person. - Excellent Communication & Interpersonal skills. - Skills & Competencies associated with vocation: analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, presentation skills, conflict & stress management skills, negotiation skills, attention to detail. - Competent in interpretation, implementation, and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies. – 3 to 5 years relevant experience within domestic wastewater treatment environment.
DUTIES
Supervisory role of a shift at a wastewater treatment works. - Ensuring that treatment work is optimised to produce treated effluent that complies with legislation. - Undertaking the sampling, testing, analysing and recording of results of various samples of raw, in-process, and treated wastewater and sludges. - Carrying out process equipment adjustments as per standard operating procedures and supervisor’s instructions. - Supervising resources associated with the wastewater treatment process. - Controlling, supervising, training, disciplining and motivating operational staff. - Assisting in and/or assuming responsibility for the treatment works and equipment/machinery when on shift in the absence of manager/supervisor/technician. - Conducting visual inspections to establish functionality levels of systems and components and /or communicating and clarifying instructions or requirements with the immediate superior. - Daily optimisation, calculation and recording of chemical dosing and sludge wasted and flows. - Optimise sludge wasting, handling, dewatering, and disposal for effective plant operation. - Ensure daily and monthly works reports are compiled, submitted, and recorded. - Monitoring and optimization of various unit processes and ensure necessary process changes. - Ensure daily cleaning and unblocking of wastewater treatment works systems. - Attending to safekeeping of all resources and plant environment to avoid theft or loss in order to ensure housekeeping standards are observed, supporting optimum functionality and minimizing unnecessary downtime. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
SALARY: R 390 120.00 p.a – R430 908.00 p.a. (Level 06 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 588 473.60 p.a
