This notice serves to place an erratum in respect of the advertisement issued on 11 December 2024, Reference Number: MN3826/24 containing the vacancy advertisement for Heavy Duty Machine Operator which closes on 16 January 2025. Applicants should NOTE that the purpose of the erratum is to correct the salary scale to the 2024/2025 salary and wage curve collective agreement.
Salary Scale applicable:
SALARY: R 257 424.00 pa – R 294 048.00 pa (Level 08 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 414 100.00 pa
REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 10. -Grade 12 will be an added advantage. -Valid code 10 or 14 driver’s license with PDP. -Heavy-duty machine Operating Certificate. -Communication and interpersonal skills. -Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, problem solving skills and attention to detail. -A hard-working self-disciplined person. -Skilful handling and operating of the Heavy-Duty Machinery. -Two (02) to Three (03) years relevant experience operating a Heavy-Duty Machinery, experience within Local Government Authority will be an added advantage.
DUTIES
Operations: -Responsible for operating heavy duty machine such as front-end loader, TLB, landfill compactor or any other on landfill sites, transfer stations and illegal dumps. -Spread out and compact waste as per the norms and standard and relevant Waste Management Licences. -Clearing illegal dumping site as per the illegal dumps program and identified hotspots. -Responsible to execute daily works order received from the Site Supervisor and/ or Foreman. Fleet maintenance and Monitoring: -Inspecting equipment for defects and maintaining records of repairs performed. -Responsible for all equipment which are used in association with the position. -Monitoring machinery functions such as oil levels and coolant levels to ensure safe operation. Compliance with relevant legislations: -Ensure compliance to pre-determined compacting methods. -Coordinating with other workers to ensure that operations onsite meet safety standards. -Responsible for all safety requirements and ensuring those safety regulations are followed when using equipment. -Perform any other related ad hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by Supervisor and Foreman from time to time.
