REQUIREMENTS

 

 

-Grade 10. -Grade 12 will be an added advantage. -Valid driver’s license. -Heavy-duty machine Operating Certificate Landfill Compactor (NQF 2). -Communication and interpersonal skills. -Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, problem solving skills and attention to detail. -A hard-working self-disciplined person. -Skilful handling and operating of the Heavy-Duty Machinery. - Three (03) years relevant experience operating a Landfill Compactor. Experience within Local Government Authority will be an added advantage.

 

DUTIES

 

Operations: -Responsible for operating heavy duty machine on landfill sites, transfer stations. -Spread out and compact waste as per the norms and standard and relevant Waste Management Licences Cell construction and closure. -Responsible for maintenance of access roads within the site to ensure efficient movement of vehicles -Responsible to execute daily works order received from the Site Supervisor and/ or Foreman. Fleet maintenance and Monitoring: -Inspecting equipment for defects and maintaining records of repairs performed. -Responsible for all equipment which are used in association with the position. -Monitoring machinery functions such as oil levels and coolant levels to ensure safe operation. Collaborating closely with Spotters to identify designated fill areas for incoming waste. Taking instructions from the Site Supervisor and management. Responsible for completing daily logbooks, reporting hours of operation and any incidents onsite. Compliance with relevant legislations: -Ensure compliance to pre-determined compacting methods. -Coordinating with other workers to ensure that operations onsite meet safety standards. -Responsible for all safety requirements and ensuring those safety regulations are followed when using equipment. Working in conjunction with the dozer and an excavator to spread waste in thin, even layers before compaction to ensure uniform density and stability. Working on different grades and slopes to maintain the landfills design, ensure proper drainage and prepare for subsequent layers and final capping. -Perform any other related ad hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by Supervisor and Foreman from time to time.

 

SALARY          R 274 380,00 p.a.– R 313 416,00p.a.  (Level 08 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)

                                                            Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 439 507.40 p.a.
