General Worksman: Roads & Stormwater

REQUIREMENTS

 

-Grade 10. -Grade 12 will be an added advantage. - Technical Qualification in Roads & Stormwater will be an added advantage. – Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP. - Excellent communication, reading and writing skills. - Experience in road building, road maintenance and storm water, concrete work, road marking and general civil engineering building work. - A hard working and self-disciplined person. - Experience in operating a grader, TLB and other road work machinery and or equipment will be an added advantage. - A hard working and self-disciplined person. - Two to three (2-3) years’ relevant experience within a roads & stormwater environment. Experience roads & stormwater within a local government authority will be an added advantage.

 

DUTIES

 

-To supervise and assist the team members to ensure that all road & storm water activities are executed in terms of work orders received. -Driving heavy motor vehicles and transporting labourer team to and from work sites. -Assists in the maintenance of road & storm water systems. -Loading and off-loading of materials and equipment. -Responsible for general maintenance of equipment used. -Responsible for general administration and filing of works-orders. -Responsible for productive and effective use of equipment and resources to ensure effective service delivery. -Must have knowledge in the maintenance of roads and stormwater. -Must have knowledge in operating machines used in road maintenance such as pedestrian roller, asphalt cutter, concrete saw cutters etc. -Responsible for discipline and control over subordinates. -Attend to public complaints as per instruction of a supervisor. -Perform any other related ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Supervisor from time to time.

 

SALARY          R 240 288.00 – R 268 596.00 p.a.  (Level 09 of a Grade 4 Local Authority)

Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 395 369.84 p.a.
