TWO YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY FOR EPWP GENERAL WORKER: PARKS SECTION X 33

REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 10. – Must be bilingual (and at least understand English). - Applicants must reside within the jurisdiction of Midvaal Local Municipality - Ability to follow & execute instructions. - Excellent physical health, basic skill and understanding of the area of work. – must be able to perform physically demanding work (in varying weather conditions). - Must meet operational requirements of the post – Be a hard-working self-disciplined person. – Applicants must have at least between 0–1-year experience in general worker/labourer or labour-intensive duties in parks and recreation. Applicants must be unemployed.
DUTIES
- the role is considered labour-intensive and applicants will be responsible for loading and off-loading of material, tools and equipment used to execute daily duties upon arrival and finishing their daily assigned tasks (Personal protective equipment and tools-of-trade will be provided by the employer), Placing traffic signs to warn traffic about work being done next to municipal roads, Clean in and around the working area of responsibility with various manual labour equipment/tools –Required to operate various garden tools (manual and electrical) to perform labour related work which includes grass cutting, tending flower beds, sweeping, raking, brush cutting, etc. - Required to execute all legal instructions from the supervisor to ensure productivity. – applicants may be required to perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.

- the role by definition is considered elementary aimed at attracting unskilled, and semi-skilled applications. - targeted participants that will aid in the achievement of EPWP objectives and targets, will be given preference. – There are a limited number of EPWP General Worker: Parks positions available. – The temporary contract will run for a maximum of two years (24 months) from date of appointment. – Preference is given to unemployed applications, where an applicant is employed on a contract consideration will only be given if the contract termination date falls within a period of 3 months or less. - If recommended for this EPWP opportunity, applicants should know that the appointment does not create a legitimate expectation of permanent employment at the municipality. - This opportunity is not ward specific and all residents of Midvaal are encouraged to apply. – Specific preference will be given to youth (between the ages of 18 and 35). – Applicants that reside within neighbouring municipalities Lesedi Local Municipality, Emfuleni Local Musicality, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, the City of Johannesburg, the City of Tshwane, Mogale City, Westrand District, Sedibeng District, etc. will be disqualified. – Applicants from other provinces and areas in Gauteng that do not fall within the jurisdiction of the Midvaal Local Municipality, will be disqualified – Any applications that provide misrepresented information will be disqualified.
