REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 12. - National Diploma in Library Science, Information Technology or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification in Library and Information Science. – B Degree information technology/ B-Bibl/ B-Info will be an added advantage. - Training facilitator accreditation will be an added advantage. - Moderator and Assessor certificates will be a strong recommendation. - Project Management & Financial Management skills and experience. - Code 08 Driver’s License. - Excellent Computer/ IT Skills. - Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. - Competent in interpretation, implementation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies. - Skills & competencies associated with vocation: analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, presentation skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills. - In depth, hands-on knowledge of authoring technologies, intranet design tools and multimedia applications. - 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience within a public library environment, computer, and technical support as well as experience in computer literacy training.
DUTIES
-Provide technical support to the library sector with regard to planning, implementing and managing information technologies. - Provide technical support in terms of the libraries’ e-learning centre/digital library. - Create, coordinate and implement the library’s technology training programmes. - Train Staff and Users in the effective use of technology and electronic resources. - Develop e-learning and other computer/information literacy training modules. - Liaise with the IT department regarding user problems related to the e-learning centre, library network infrastructure and related equipment. - Promote and coordinate the effective management and development of electronic information resources and information technologies including budgeting for e-resources. - Responsible for the general day-to-day operational functioning of the e-learning centre. - Serve as webmaster for the library. - General administration including report writing, filing, tending to queries, answering telephones, etc. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management from time to time.
SALARY R 390 120. 00 p.a. – R 430 908. 00 p.a. (Level 06 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 588 473.60 p.a.
