REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 12. - Bachelor’s Degree in Town Planning or other relevant Town/Urban Planning qualifications. - Computer proficient (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point). - Valid driver’s License. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Excellent planning and organising skills. - Experience with performance evaluation process. - Sound working knowledge of applicable planning legislation. - Registration as Professional Planner with SACPLAN or eligible for registration as a Professional Planner would be an added advantage. - Ability to analyse and interpret spatial information. - Project Management and Financial Management skills and experience. - Meet MFMA Minimum Competency levels or qualify for dispensation. - A minimum of 05 (Five) years’ experience in Town Planning (Land Use) of which 03 (Three) must be at management level.
DUTIES
-Manage and control urban and rural development in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, frameworks and municipal plans. - Coordinate and evaluate land development applications, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, processes and turnaround times. - Oversee the administration of land use management functions, including the issuing of zoning certificates and implementation of Council resolutions and policies. - Provide professional advice and guidance to the public, internal departments and external stakeholders on land use and town planning matters. - Assess and comment on development proposals, planning applications and policy instruments in line with the Spatial Development Framework and municipal objectives. - Prepare and submit land use applications for Council-led projects and undertake site inspections as required. - Maintain and administer the Municipal Land Use Scheme and ensure ongoing review and implementation of the SPLUMA By-law. - Enforce compliance with land use and planning by-laws, addressing contraventions to promote orderly and lawful development. - Perform any other related duties as may be required by management from time to time.

Applicants should note that the role, in terms of legislation, requires REGISTRATION AS PROFESSIONAL PLANNER WITH SACPLAN; this is a requirement and not an added advantage.
SALARY: R 560 748.00 p.a – R 618 888.00 p.a. (Level 3/2 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
