REQUIREMENTS

 

-Grade 12. - First aid level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course. – Firefighting 1 & 2 Hazmat awareness and Operations. - Background in Fire & Rescue services will be an added advantage. - Valid Driver’s License. - Computer Literate (MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint). - Must not have any speech or hearing impairments. - Must be able to retrieve information from people in distress or panic state in shortest possible time. - Keeping mentally and physically calm. - Must be able to multitask. - Must be able to relay information to officers and crew using radios. - Good communication skills in English, read write and speak. - Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, analytical thinking, empowerment, leadership skills, presentation skills, conflict and stress management skills, negotiation skills, problem solving, office/diary management, strong administrative skills, writing & typing skills. - Excellent report writing skills and typing skills. - A professional, hardworking, highly motivated, and self-disciplined person with good organisational, interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadline. - Experience in a call centre environment or Fire Services will be an added advantage. - Two (02) to (03) Three years relevant experience in control room or switchboard operation. Applicants to note that this position works on rotational shifts. 

 

DUTIES

 

-Receive and dispatch incoming emergency calls. - To ensure effective service delivery for public, when in need. - General Administrative duties: - By logging all calls received. - Logging all records. - Filing this logged information by using a confidential filing system. - Perform and all-inclusive switchboard function for Public Safety. - To ensure the smooth operation of the section. - Cleaning of control facility. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.

 

 

SALARY:          R 274 380.00 – R 313 416.00 p. a. (Level 08 of a Grade 4 Local Authority)

                        Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 439 507.40 p.a.
