REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Geographic Information Science, Town Planning or equivalent. – Valid driver’s license - Computer Literate. – Experience with ArcGIS software is beneficial. - Experience in the surveying and architectural/building fields will be an added advantage. - Knowledge and understanding of Building Control & Land Use policies, regulations and procedures. – Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation pertaining Local Government. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) - Skills and Competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, assertiveness/leadership skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills, problem solving skills, office skills, strong administrative skills, writing and typing skills, attention to detail, Report writing skills. -Three to Five (3 – 5) years’ relevant experience in GIS. Experience in GIS within Local Government Authority will be an advantage.
DUTIES
-Compile and issue locality maps and Survey General (SG) diagrams. -Provide verbal & written correspondence to the public. – Maintain & manage the public GIS counter. -assist staff with map creation and location intelligence. -Conduct spatial analysis and prepare reports. – Prepare various types of maps upon request including locality maps, streets maps and ward maps, etc. -Capture and maintain spatial datasets, attributes and metadata using ArcGIS software. -Conduct fieldwork or site inspection when necessary. -Comments on and assist in compiling planning policies. -Perform any other related Ad Hoc task and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
SALARY R 371 508.00 – R 410 352.00 p.a. (Level 06 of a Grade 04 Local Authority
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 560 975.00 p.a.
